Kilachand Decision Appeal
We understand that many talented and intellectually curious applicants may not have been offered a place in Kilachand Honors College, and at times we offer an appeal opportunity to those who remain interested in joining our community.
Our ability to welcome additional students to Kilachand is determined by available space in our specialty residences. As such, we accept appeals on a rolling basis as space allows.
We appreciate your interest in Kilachand. We are unable to accept appeals or new applications at this time, but please complete the form below to be notified should space become available.
Appeal and Application Inquiry Form
By completing this form, you are not appealing your Kilachand decision or applying to Kilachand Honors College. We will contact you at the email address provided should we have the space to review appeals or accept new applications, typically shortly before or after May 1. However, we cannot guarantee whether we will have the space to welcome additional students to our community.
Thank you for your interest in Kilachand Honors College. Space for the incoming Class of 2027 is full and we are no longer accepting appeals or new applications for incoming students.
Appeal FAQs
Please note that the appeal form for the Class of 2027 has not been published. These FAQs are for informational purposes.
Q: How will I know whether I was admitted to Kilachand?
A: Admitted students will see a welcome letter from Kilachand Director Professor Carrie Preston in their MyBU Portal.
Q: Can I use the appeal form to apply to Kilachand?
A: Please only use the appeal form if you applied to Kilachand Honors College when applying to Boston University and would like to be reconsidered for admission to Kilachand.
Q: Is my appeal likely to be accepted?
A: Appeals are considered as space allows. Unfortunately we may not always have the residential or classroom space to welcome additional students to our community, but we are often able to extend a number of invitations.
Q: I was admitted to BU Early Decision. Can I appeal my Kilachand decision?
A: Absolutely! However, please be mindful that we do not begin to review appeals until after Regular Decision notifications are released, so a few months may pass before you receive a decision depending on when you submit your appeal.
Q: You said we may hear back in early May but the commitment deadline is May 1.
A: That is correct. As appeal decisions are released on a rolling basis as space allows or becomes available, some students may not be offered a place in Kilachand until after committing to Boston University or another institution. If you have a pending appeal and do not commit to Boston University you do not need to take any action; we will remove your appeal from our pool.
Q: How will I hear about my appeal decision?
A: You will receive an email directly from Kilachand Honors College to the email address you used when applying to Boston University.
Q: I still have questions, who can help?
A: Please connect with our team at honors@bu.edu if you have any further questions about admission to Kilachand Honors College or our appeal process.
