Students<\/h2>\n

We provide new degree and non-degree students\u2014at the graduate and undergraduate levels\u2014the opportunity to learn how to best transition to the U.S. and the BU community.\u00a0These mandatory<\/strong> sessions feature an introduction to ISSO services and include critical visa and immigration information, as well as important tips on cultural adjustment, the American classroom, and health.<\/p>\n

Undergraduate<\/h3>\n

ISSO’s International Student Advising team participates in Boston University Orientation to offer a\u00a0program tailored for international students.<\/p>\n

International freshman, MET International undergraduate students, and Exchange\u2013XRG students, are encouraged to register through the Orientation office<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Graduate<\/h3>\n

The ISSO offers an orientation session to graduate degree students.<\/p>\n

will be held on:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Friday, January 22, 2016, 3:00-5:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/span>
\nBU Photonics Center, 8 St. Mary’s Street<\/p>\n

During this orientation session, advising staff from the International Students\u00a0& Scholars Office\u00a0will cover topics including Cultural Adjustment, Immigration and Employment.<\/p>\n

J-1 Exchange Visitors (Categories: Professor, Research Scholar, Short-Term Scholar, Student Intern, Specialist)<\/h2>\n

All BU sponsored J-1 Scholars are required by U.S. Department of State regulations to report to the ISSO and attend a New Scholar Orientation upon arrival in the U.S.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The ISSO offers two New J-1 Scholar Orientation\/Check-in sessions weekly:<\/o:p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

J-1 Scholars may attend orientation at either location and no registration is required. We recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes early in order to complete any necessary paperwork.<\/p>\n
