Continue to check the official <a href=\"https:\/\/live.bu.edu\/commencement-2020\/\">Boston University Commencement 2020<\/a> website, for updates.<\/p>\n<p>Given the continuing COVID-related travel challenges, we expect most of you will <a href=\"https:\/\/live.bu.edu\/commencement-2020\/all-university\/\"><strong>livestream<\/strong><\/a> the event so that you and your family and friends can celebrate remotely.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you are able to travel to the US to attend the event in person, please consider the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You and your family members will need a valid <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/tourism-visit\/visitor.html\">visitor visa<\/a> to the enter the US or, you will need <a href=\"https:\/\/esta.cbp.dhs.gov\/esta\">ESTA clearance<\/a> if you are a citizen of a country <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/tourism-visit\/visa-waiver-program.html\">eligible<\/a> for the Visitor Visa Waiver Program.<\/li>\n<li>You should follow US Department of State visa application <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/visa-information-resources\/frequently-asked-questions\/about-basics.html\">procedures<\/a>. Plan ahead as most US Consular Posts are experiencing severe visa processing backlogs due to COVID.<\/li>\n<li>The US Department of State should not require an individual letter of invitation to issue you a visitor visa. However, if you wish to document why you wish to visit the US, you could present a copy of your Boston University diploma or, your Boston University transcript demonstrating your 2019 or 2020 program completion and a copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/president\/bu-commencement-plans-for-2020-graduates\/\">letter<\/a> you received from President Brown announcing Commencement 2020.<\/li>\n<li>COVID travel restrictions are currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/travelers\/from-other-countries.html\">prohibiting direct travel to the US<\/a> from 33 countries.
