Angie (She\/They) is a senior studying Sociology on the pre-law track at Boston University, with a passion for addressing issues at the intersection of urban labor dynamics, workers\u2019 rights, and community engagement. A first generation college student and immigrant raised in New York City, Angie\u2019s work critically explores urban labor environments through hands-on roles, such as working with the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, AFL-CIO. There, they spearheaded union campaigns and strategies that amplified the voices of hospitality workers within one of the nation\u2019s largest urban service economies. This experience deepened their understanding of urban labor struggles, union organizing, and the power of collective action in shaping equitable cities.<\/p>\n
Angie has pursued her interests on a global scale by serving as a Research Assistant at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, where she researched the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on educational institutions and how these shifts influenced city dynamics. Her volunteer work has included co-founding an international tutoring initiative with the goal of helping to raise funds for humanitarian assistance through mutual aid efforts.<\/p>\n
Dedicated to advancing equitable urban labor landscapes and informed by rigorous research, Angie plans to continue exploring the socio-economic outlines of cities and workers\u2019 rights through both academic inquiry and grassroots advocacy.
