In this capacity, he will be at the forefront of the IOC, spearheading the development of innovative solutions to urban heat challenges and\u00a0our center\u2019s ongoing efforts to work on policy-oriented solutions to mitigate urban heat as a part of our\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ioc\/research\/urban-h-index\/\"><span>Urban-H Index<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0research initiative.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Li has received two\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ioc\/research\/seedgrants\/\"><span>Early Stage Urban Research Awards<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0from the IOC. His\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ioc\/2018\/07\/16\/seedgrantheatwaves\/\"><span>first<\/span><\/a><span>, in 2018, involved creating a modeling tool that quantified the city-scale impacts of heat mitigation efforts to inform municipal policy design; his<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ioc\/2023\/04\/13\/2023-early-stage-urban-research-awards\/\"><span>\u00a0second<\/span><\/a><span>, in 2023, utilized hyper-resolution large-eddy simulations, an innovative modeling program, to evaluate heat mitigation in an urban canopy in Chelsea, MA, with realistic weather conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Li received his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University.
