Join the Boston University Initiative on Cities<\/a><\/strong> for the opening reception of\u00a0Right to the City<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, a new exhibition featuring the work of photographer and advocate Dominic Moulden. Essmaa Litim<\/a><\/strong>, 2025 Spoken Word Artist of the Year by the Boston Music Awards, will perform a spoken word poetry reading for the opening. Following a brief program, the floor will open for gallery viewing and reception with refreshments.<\/p>\n

Right to the City <\/em>is an international movement combating the political, cultural, and environmental repercussions of inequitable land and property (re)development. Over the last decade, advocate and photographic ethnographer Dominic Moulden has traversed shorelines, capturing the global resistance against displacement. This traveling exhibition provides a survey of grassroots organizations, scholars, and community members combating the global repercussions of gentrification.<\/p>\n

The first site location, Boston University<\/a>, is anchored by images taken by Moulden in 2023 and hosted by urbanist and scholar-activist Loretta Lees<\/a><\/strong>, Director of the Initiative on Cities<\/a> at Boston University. Thereafter, the exhibition will travel to London and be hosted in partnership with Queen Mary University of London<\/a>, where the display will center around images Moulden captured while touring sites with Loretta Lees and working with Dr. Joseph Hoover<\/a><\/strong>, Director of TheoryLAB<\/a> and Reader in Political Theory at Queen Mary University of London.<\/p>\n

Curated by academic Ky Vassor<\/a><\/strong>, Right to the City<\/em> serves as a call to action, uplifting ways we can all safeguard the fundamental human right to a healthy place called home.<\/p>\n
