Boston Equity & Inclusion Cabinet

In partnership with the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, the IOC internship with the City of Boston’s Equity and Inclusion Cabinet is the successor to a longstanding partnership with what was formerly known as the Mayor’s Office of Resilience & Racial Equity (MORRE). It awards one BU undergraduate student the opportunity to spend the summer working directly with the Senior Advisor on Racial Justice, Ms. Lori Nelson, and team to support activities overseen by her office. Climate Ready Boston

The IOC internship with the City of Boston’s Environment Department in City Hall awards one BU undergraduate student the opportunity to spend the summer working with the Climate Ready Boston team on heat resilience projects, as well as on communications and community engagement work.  The intern will have the opportunity to work in Boston City Hall in addition to “on the ground” work in many of Boston’s neighborhoods. Learn more

Boston Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM)

The IOC MONUM Summer Fellowship awards one BU graduate student the opportunity to spend the summer working with the City of Boston, within the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics (MONUM). This fellow will have the opportunity to explore an interest in public service and civic innovation while having a positive impact on the surrounding community. Learn more.
