The Boston University Initiative on Cities seeks an outstanding undergraduate student for a summer internship with the City of Boston Streets Cabinet. The intern will primarily work on community outreach, supporting the Streets Cabinet’s efforts to engage residents, businesses, and community organizations on initiatives from the Boston Transportation and Public Works Departments.
This internship is new for summer 2026, and is a great opportunity for students interested in cities, community outreach, public engagement, marketing and communications, and/or transportation. Check out our past summer internship reflections here.

🗺️ Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center Research Internship
The Boston University Initiative on Cities (IOC) seeks an outstanding graduate or advanced undergraduate student for a summer research internship with the Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center at the Boston Public Library. The Intern will contribute to geospatial research and data analysis on housing in Massachusetts, supporting a new public-facing exhibition to be mounted by the Leventhal Center in 2027.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of urban research and geospatial analysis, contributing to cartographic and analytical work that will reach broad public audiences through in-person and digital exhibitions.
