{"id":3793,"date":"2019-10-11T11:01:42","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T15:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/innovate\/?p=3793"},"modified":"2024-07-24T11:44:27","modified_gmt":"2024-07-24T15:44:27","slug":"18k-new-venture-competition-applications-are-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/innovate\/18k-new-venture-competition-applications-are-open\/","title":{"rendered":"$18k New Venture Competition Applications are Open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/innovate\/signature-programs\/new-venture-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Venture Competition (NVC)<\/a> is a three-round pitch competition that gives early-stage BU entrepreneurs a chance to win up to $18,000 and transform their ideas into something real!<\/p>\n<p>Applications are now open for the first to Round 1: Pitch &amp; Pizza sessions held on November 13 and 20 at the BUild Lab IDG Capital Student Innovation Center. Pitch &amp; Pizza is held six times throughout the academic year and accepted applicants will be given 60 seconds to pitch their idea to an audience and panel of judges.<\/p>\n<p><span>With two tracks for Tech Ideas and Social Impact Ideas, the competition is appropriate for ventures of any kind including tech, consumer, creative, or social impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Throughout each round, participants are connected with Innovate@BU\u2019s resources including coaching and mentorship, founder and team skill-building, media exposure, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The New Venture Competition is open to current Boston University students and alumni that have graduated within the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s competition grand prize winners were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pangissimostudio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pangissimo<\/a>, creators of modular surround-sound speakers, and BRUZD Foods, a subscription box delivery service of imperfect produce.
