Who is Bella Ramirez?
Bella Ramirez is the CEO and founder of Wicked Smaht Comedy LLC (WSC), a company that brings sketch variety shows to life with collegiate talent from the Boston area. The shows not only provide a platform for aspiring comedians, but also donate a percentage of ticket sales to local charities. Bella’s work has been recognized by BostInno as one of Boston’s “25 Under 25.”
Beyond her entrepreneurial endeavors, Bella is a senior at Boston University, an honors college student pursuing her bachelor’s degrees in Journalism, Political Science, and Philosophy. Her journalism has been featured in NBC News, GBH News, The Sun Chronicle, BUTV10, and The Daily Free Press, earning her a “College Rising Star” accolade from the New England News and Press Association in 2022.
The Journey of Wicked Smaht Comedy
Wicked Smaht Comedy connects students across Boston’s 118 colleges and universities, creating a unique networking space for creatives. The company’s sketch variety shows serve as a launchpad for the next generation of comedy greats while supporting local charities.
What started as a dream over Bella’s first college winter break has evolved into an enterprise that combines humor, creativity, and philanthropy.
A Passion for Journalism and Entrepreneurship
At Boston University, Bella actively supports her fellow students as a Resident Assistant and helps the Back Bay Publishing Co. work towards paying students on the independent student newspaper where she used to work as an editor. She is also a Leadership Brainery Ambassador Fellow, working towards eventually pursuing a dual JD/MBA with the goal of being at the forefront of media innovation while mentoring young storytellers and entrepreneurs.
Her guiding philosophy? Swap complaining with making solutions. This mindset drives her to continually seek out ways to make a positive impact.
