The Boston University International Law Journal<\/i>\u00a0publishes articles on international law written by professors and practitioners as well as BU student-authored notes. \u00a0As one of the nation’s leading international law journals,\u00a0the ILJ<\/em> seeks to maintain the highest editorial standards and to produce a professional quality publication worthy of international recognition. \u00a0Published biannually in the spring and summer, the\u00a0ILJ<\/em>\u00a0also publishes short scholarly pieces on current issues in international law via ILJ Online <\/em>and ILJ Voices<\/em>. \u00a0Email us at\u00a0ilj@bu.edu<\/a>\u00a0with any questions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The\u00a0ILJ <\/em>carefully selects approximately twenty-five students from each second-year class.\u00a0 Members are selected based on their performance in the writing competition and first-year grades.\u00a0 The ILJ <\/em>also considers a student’s interest in international law as evidenced by the student’s preferential ranking of the journals included in the writing competition.\u00a0 The ILJ <\/em>does not have an automatic grade-on policy.<\/p>\n Once admitted to the staff, new members take an approved international law-related elective and the International Law Research course.\u00a0 \u00a0Each\u00a0ILJ<\/em>\u00a0<\/i>staff member must also author a note of publishable quality in their second year.<\/p>\n ILJ s<\/em>taff members are strongly encouraged to submit their notes for satisfaction of the law school’s certification requirement.\u00a0 ILJ<\/em> staff members exercise a great deal of intellectual creativity and freedom in developing their topics. \u00a0The current growth in international legal activity provides a broad range of potential topics including international trade, human rights, intellectual property, space crimes, health care, cultural heritage, and environmental policy. \u00a0Alternatively, ILJ <\/em>staff members may write a comparative or foreign law piece on virtually any area of the law.<\/p>\n <\/p>\nMembership Requirements<\/h2>\n
