Patricia Fabian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/m-fabian\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patricia Fabian<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an Associate Director with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is a Professor of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/about\/departments\/environmental-health\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environmental Health<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the School of Public Health. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She founded the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/fabian\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sustainable Built Environment Lab<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which conducts research on extreme heat resilience in cities, indoor air quality in schools and homes, and energy transitions in the built environment. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current projects include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catchcityheat.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CATCH<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">making the health impacts of extreme heat visible in frontline communities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-heatproject.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C-HEAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, building the capacity for Chelsea Creek communities to respond to extreme heat events<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sustainable Schools<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\/research\/chess\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data-driven, community-engaged research to promote healthy indoor air quality, sustainability, and climate resilience in Boston Public Schools<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/news\/articles\/2024\/heatwave-watch\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B-COOL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, informing a more equitable approach to how heat emergencies are declared in Boston and how heat relief and cooling resources are allocated<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/igs\/research\/celt\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CELT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">advancing an equitable energy transition in Massachusetts, empowering communities, and training the next generation of climate leaders.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Fabian\u2019s research teams are highly interdisciplinary. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her research group has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, and her expert opinion is often sought by members of the media. Dr. Fabian was a Steering Committee member for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs on the 80&#215;50 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Study and currently serves on the Massachusetts Climate Science Advisory Panel<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
