Focused Research Program sponsored by the Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering, with support from IGS.<\/h2>\n

To further BU’s leadership in climate and health research, an interdisciplinary project team is developing the infrastructure and shared resources for researchers across BU to access state-of-the-art climate data, visualize and quantify vulnerability to climate hazards and health risks, and model the health benefits of heat adaptation strategies.<\/p>\n

Project Focus Areas<\/h3>\n

  1. Expanding the climate resilience data hub<\/strong>: Making climate-relevant data more accessible and usable by engaging the BU community and external experts to identify data needs, streamline sharing, and accelerate climate research.<\/li>\n
  2. Visualizing vulnerability and inequity to inform action<\/strong>: Developing and implementing methods to visualize and quantify spatial variation in climate hazard vulnerabilities, health risks, and inequities, with an emphasis on local-scale insights to guide adaptation and public health efforts.<\/li>\n
  3. Modeling the health benefits of heat adaptation strategies<\/strong>: Facilitating development of a decision support tool to help stakeholders and decisionmakers quantify the potential temperature and health benefits of local climate adaptation actions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
