Sharon Casey, a 2026 Graduate Summer Fellow at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is a PhD student in Epidemiology in the School of Public Health. Casey will use electronic health records to investigate the association between residential high ambient temperatures in early pregnancy and risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, a range of conditions characterized by high blood pressure, in a diverse population at high risk.

Her faculty advisor is Samantha Parker Kelleher (Associate Professor, Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health) and her project is titled “Exposure to High Ambient Temperatures and Risk of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy.
