Ian Kieffer
Graduate Research Assistant, IGS
Ian Kieffer is a Graduate Research Assistant supporting a major research project of the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS). Kieffer works with IGS research partner Schneider Electric and Professor Ian Sue Wing on a project that aims to assess the costs and benefits associated with adoption of retrofit and new buildings of the future: buildings that are more capital intensive but less energy intensive relative to the extant building stock. Kieffer and colleagues utilize a detailed general equilibrium model to understand the economic trade-offs associated with a growing role for buildings of the future in the economy. His research interests broadly relate to macro-finance. Kieffer is interested in investment, uncertainty, innovation, technical change, and text as data.
