He is an Associate Professor of Russian and Comparative Literature in the Department of World Languages &amp; Literatures, where he studies the intersections of philosophy, religion, and psychology in modern Russian and European literature with a focus on the Russian nineteenth century. He is the author of <\/span><em><span>Dostoevsky and the Riddle of the Self<\/span><\/em><span>\u00a0(2017); the editor of\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Chekhov in Context<\/span><\/em><span>\u00a0(2023); and is working on two new books \u2013 one titled\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Soul Geographers: From Gogol to Nietzsche,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>a comparative study of literary attempts to map the unconscious in the 19th\u00a0century; the other probing Chekhov as a moral thinker for our time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\"><span>He was awarded the Neu Family Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2019 by the College of Arts and Science.
