{"id":13903,"date":"2020-04-08T16:34:49","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T20:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/humanities\/?page_id=13903"},"modified":"2025-12-01T13:10:43","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T18:10:43","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/humanities\/opportunities\/graduate-opportunities\/dissertation-fellowship\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"Dissertation Fellowships FAQs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">When is the application deadline?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The annual Graduate Dissertation Fellowship application deadline is <strong>March 1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Who can apply?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be nominated by their departments.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible departments or programs may nominate up to two graduate students to apply for a Graduate Dissertation Fellowship.<span>\u00a0<\/span><b>No student may hold a dissertation fellowship beyond their 7th year<\/b><span>. For example, a student who is in their 7th year in AY 25-26 would be in their 8th year in AY 26-27 and would not be eligible for nomination.\u00a0<\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Faculty must be rigorous in selecting nominees who will unquestionably be ready to defend their dissertations by the end of the academic year in which they hold the fellowship. Applicants for AY 26-27 must defend by the end of AY 26-27. The Graduate Dissertation Fellowship is intended to be the final stage of each fellow\u2019s graduate work at BU, and fellows should not continue their graduate student affiliation with their departments in the year after their award.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I use your online applications?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p><span>All BUCH applications must be submitted via InfoReady Review. You may save your draft application at anytime. You will need to use your BUID login name and Kerberos password to log in.
