CVS Acts Against Medicine Hoarding

In March 2020, the company moved quickly to ensure essential medications would not be stockpiled by patients with coronavirus. Hydroxychloroquine, which is also used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, was in short supply when the malaria drug had some success against the novel coronavirus. The company instituted quantity limits of 10-14 days for customers using it to treat coronavirus, while those using it to treat chronic conditions would not be subject to rationing. The company continues to use data analytics to determine which prescriptions are in high demand because of coronavirus.

The company has also announced that it plans to hire 50,000 in full-time, part-time and temporary jobs to address increased demand for drugstore services and health products during the pandemic.
