Some things you\u2019ll need to bring with you.<\/p>\n<p>All of our on-campus rooms come furnished with a dresser, a desk, a bed, and a chair for each student, as well as curtains, mini blinds, or window shades.<\/p>\n<p>You should pack pillows, extra-long twin bed sheets (beds are 80 inches long), a bedspread, blankets, towels, a flashlight, a desk lamp, and a metal wastebasket.<\/p>\n<p>Our apartment-style residences are stocked with a refrigerator, a stove, a dining table, chairs, and comfortable seating. Though you\u2019ll need to bring your own cooking utensils, dishes, silverware, and cleaning supplies. Also, in apartment-style housing\u2014and rooms or suites with a bathroom\u2014shower curtains are provided.<\/p>\n<p>As far as furniture, you\u2019ll be responsible for whatever is provided. Remember, furniture may not be removed from any room, apartment, or common area (unless authorized and moved by BU Housing staff). If any of your furniture is damaged or needs to be replaced due to resident-inflicted\u00a0damage, you will be charged. The University will also charge for removal of any non-University furniture that is left in a room, apartment, or common area at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Furniture in the common areas is for the use of students of the floor or house and can\u2019t be moved. Any student who appropriates common-area furniture for their room or apartment may be sanctioned and the occupants of the residence charged accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Upon check-in, if any furniture is damaged or missing, you should report it on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/services\/furnishings\/room-condition-reports-rcr\/\">Room Condition Report<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>and, when applicable, submit a<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/services\/furnishings\/furniture-and-appliance-request\/\">Furniture and Appliance Request<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>on the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/myhousing\">My Housing<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>portal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to bring<br \/>\n<\/strong>You can view a list of items that we recommend you bring to campus in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/living\/what-to-bring\/\">What to Bring<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Power strips<\/strong> are allowed as long as they meet the following specifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>15 amps rating<\/li>\n<li>14-gauge wire<\/li>\n<li>Built-in circuit breaker<\/li>\n<li>1875-watt maximum power<\/li>\n<li>UL listed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Power strips must be plugged directly into the wall outlet and one should <em>never<\/em> be plugged into another power strip. Do not cover power strips with clothing, paper, rugs, or any combustible material. Appliances such as a MicroFridge or a refrigerator should be plugged directly into a wall outlet and should not be plugged into a power strip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MicroFridge<br \/>\n<\/strong>You can rent a MicroFridge\u2014a combination freezer, refrigerator, and microwave oven\u2014directly from<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/vending\/\">Vending Services<\/a>, 617-353-2375. This is the only approved microwave allowed in dormitory-style residences under University regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Vending Services staff will move your MicroFridge into your room at the start of the academic year or semester. If you relocate from one residence to another during the academic year, you should notify Vending Services and arrangements can be made to move your MicroFridge to your new residence. If you move out of on-campus housing at any time during the academic year, you should contact Vending Services so the MicroFridge that you rented can be moved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shhh, quiet.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Feel free to bring sound systems and TV sets, but don\u2019t forget your headphones though as there are specific quiet hours daily from 6 pm to 8 am. The expectation is that quiet is the norm in the residences at all times.<\/p>\n<p>Students may not place or affix any satellite dish, antenna, or other device outside their windows, on the roof, or in any other location of any University building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For any questions or concerns regarding furniture and appliances please email Residence Services at\u00a0houservc@bu.edu Some things we\u2019ve taken care of.
