Furniture and Appliance Requests

The Furniture and Appliance Requests module allows students to submit maintenance request orders for kitchen appliances, furniture, and keys. For all other requests, contact the residence office or for maintenance emergencies in your room contact the 24-hour emergency service line at Facilities Management & Planning, 617-353-2105.

Some requests such as damaged furniture or lost keys may incur a charge to your student account. Please do not submit requests to remove University-issued furniture. No items will be removed from any room, apartment, or common area. Students are charged for the replacement of any furniture that is removed or damaged.

The following steps will guide you through successfully completing a maintenance request order for kitchen appliances, furniture, or keys. For missing keys or lockouts visit the residence office or contact your RA on-call. More information regarding keys available here.

To access the Furniture and Appliance Request module log in to the My Housing portal. Once you have signed in click on the Furniture and Appliance Requests tab on the top ribbon. From here you will be able to submit your request.

To submit a request click NEW JOB and to view or edit a previously submitted request click View/Edit.

Job Detail

Please select the room for which you’re completing the request. Once the room has been selected, complete the following fields:

  • Category: Select a category based on the request. You can choose from Appliances, Furniture, and Keys.
  • Item: In the item drop down list you will select the item that requires attention based on the category selected above.
  • Description: Write a detailed description of the item that requires attention. Be as specific as possible.
  • Cause: Include the cause of the damage if it is known.
  • Comments: You can specify a time when we might be able to enter your room to complete the request.

Click SAVE JOB to submit your request. You will receive an email if the request cannot be completed and/or if it must be directed to a different department.

A BU Housing staff member will be entering your room to complete the request. A Notice of Entry will be left behind if you are not present in your room.
