Move-In Procedure

All students (including those currently living in Myles Standish Hall or 10 Buick Street) should go to their assigned residence’s Residence Life office (Myles Standish Hall or 10 Buick Street) to check-in.

How do I check in?
Before you arrive at your check-in location, you must sign in to the My Housing Portal on a mobile device and navigate to the Assignment History section. There will be a QR code in this section, which you must show to a Residence Life staff member to check in. Please do not begin to move in until you have completed this critical step.

May I bring another person to assist with move-in?
Students will be permitted to have one (1) additional person accompany them to their room to move in. Each student and guest must wear a face mask/covering while inside the residences and practice appropriate physical distancing at all times. You will have two (2) hours to complete your move-in. BU Housing will email your move-in time block.

BU Dining Halls and Retail Operations

The Fresh Food Co. at Marciano Commons and retail location information and operating hours are available here. An essential tool for students is the GrubHub Campus Dining App, which you will need to download and set up to make purchases in BU Dining retail locations.

Move-out Procedure

Students must move-out by their expected departure date. At the end of your stay with us, make sure you do the following:

  • Students and one helper should complete the move-out on the assigned departure date between the hours of 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Students should coordinate with their roommates when they are moving out to reduce the number of individuals moving out at the same time in their unit.
  • Students must remove ALL their items from their room. Please remove all of your belongings, and leave the room or apartment in a clean and habitable condition. All furniture that was in your room when you moved in is expected to be there and arranged as you found it. BU will not store/ship any items remaining in rooms after the student has left campus. All remaining items will be considered abandoned and may be discarded.
  • Return your key to your hall/area Residence Life office. You are responsible for turning in your keys to your residence office whenever you move out. If you fail to properly check out and turn in your keys, you may be charged additional residence and lock/key fees.
  • If you have not already done so, update your home mailing address on the Student Link under Personal Information. If you receive your mail via USPS, update your information online here.
  • Please make every effort to maintain at least six feet of physical distancing from others while in entrances of residences, stairwells, and all corridors.
