He taught Sustainable Hospitality (Missouri State U, U of Southern Maine), Sustainable Tourism (Temple U), and Workforce Development for Indigenous Tourism (George Washington U). He wrote the textbook, \u201cSustainable Hospitality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dan founded Boston Green Tourism in 2005 and led it until 2019. In that role, he organized over 100 sustainable hotel workshops and webinars for local, state, and U.S. hoteliers. Dan was the 2014 Sustainable Lodging Person of the Year. Boston Green Tourism earned an EPA Environmental Merit Award.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Dan was the executive director of the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Conventions, which implemented environmental best practices at the 2004 Democratic and Republican National Conventions. CERC won the international Environmentally Responsible Meeting Award and two EPA awards.<\/p>\n<p>Dan is the Chair of Green Newton in Newton Massachusetts. He leads its Building Standards Committee, which persuaded developers to build Passive House, all-electric, low embodied carbon developments, and persuaded the City of Newton to upgrade its sustainability requirements for new buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Before working in the environmental sector, Dan spent 17 years as a healthcare administrator with Harvard Community Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. For seven years, Dan was the Health Center Administrator of HCHP\u2019s Swansea Health Center.<\/p>\n<p>Dan helped several hundred people live environmentally sustainable lifestyles by teaching Household EcoTeams and Low Carbon Diet teams.\u00a0 He created and taught a course called How to Live a Green Lifestyle.
