Padma\u202fLakshmi is an Emmy-nominated producer, television host, food expert, and a\u202fNew York Times\u202fbest-selling author, as well as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People (2023).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She is the creator of the critically-acclaimed and Emmy-nominated Hulu series \u201cTaste the Nation,\u201d which is the recipient of a James Beard Foundation Award top prize in Visual Media \u2013 Long Form. Lakshmi served as host and executive producer for 19 seasons of Bravo\u2019s two-time Emmy-winning series \u201cTop Chef,\u201d which has been nominated for 47 Emmys, including her five-time nomination for Outstanding Host for A Reality-Competition Program.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lakshmi is co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA) and an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Artist Ambassador for immigrants’ rights and women’s rights. Lakshmi was also appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She established herself as a food expert early in her career, hosting two successful cooking shows: \u201cPadma\u2019s Passport,\u201d and \u201cPlanet Food\u201d and writing the best-selling <\/span>Easy Exotic<\/span><\/i>, which won the Best First Book award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.\u202fLakshmi followed this with the publication of her second cookbook, <\/span>Tangy, Tart, Hot & Sweet<\/span><\/i> and her memoir <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/i> best-selling <\/span>Love, Loss and What We Ate<\/span><\/i>. She later published <\/span>The Encyclopedia of Spices & Herbs<\/span><\/i>. In August 2021, she published her first children\u2019s book, Tomatoes for Neela, a New York Times bestseller.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Additionally, Lakshmi is a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She received the 2018 Karma Award from Variety and the 2016 NECO Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
