Undergraduate Work Requirement
In addition to academic coursework, SHA undergraduate students complete two 300-hour non-credit work experiences (HF140 and HF240) and one international experience (HF440). These requirements are designed to provide students with practical experience, offering firsthand exposure to the hospitality industry both in the United States and worldwide. The work experiences can be full-time or part-time internships or jobs. See below for what counts as an international experience.
If you are an incoming SHA student, you are required to meet with Career Services to discuss the two 300-hour non-credit work experience requirements (HF140 and HF240) and one international experience (HF 440). You can make an appointment on Handshake or email Maureen Ricciuti at mricciut@bu.edu.
