Advising Timeline

First Year in SHA (freshmen, transfers, IUTs)

Meeting 1

When: During the First Two Weeks of School

Meeting with Director of Student Services to discuss Fall classes, transition to BU and ask any questions you may have.

Meeting 2

When: Last two weeks of October

Meeting with the Director of Career Services to talk about future plans for work experiences and international experience. Fill out the pre-approval form and turn in to Director of Student Services.

Meeting 3

When: First two weeks of November

Meeting with Director of Student Services to discuss spring registration, status of current classes and receive academic advising code. You will need this advising code to register for your spring classes on registration day in the middle of November. Bring pre-approval form from Meeting 2 to add to your file.

Meeting 4

When: First two weeks of April

Meeting with the Director of Student Services to discuss fall registration and potential plans for summer courses. You will receive your advising code in this meeting, which is required to register for classes.

Please note that you may make an appointment with the Director of Student Services or the Director of Career Services any time throughout the semester. The meetings above are just the minimum requirements to ensure you are successful during your time in the School of Hospitality Administration.

Meeting 1

When: First two weeks of November

Meeting with assigned faculty advisor to discuss spring registration, status of current classes, career aspirations. Use this time to connect with your professor and take advantage of their expertise in the hospitality industry. This is when you will receive your advising code required for registration.

Meeting 2

When: Last two weeks of March

Meeting with assigned faculty advisor to discuss fall registration, status of current classes, career aspirations. Use this time to connect with your professor and take advantage of their expertise in the hospitality industry. This is when you will receive your advising code required for registration.

Please note that the Director of Student Services and the Director of Career Services is available to answer academic and career-related question for your entire time at SHA. Feel free to make appointments with them at any time.
