The Department of History offers degrees in History at both the master\u2019s and doctoral levels. We train students interested<\/span>\u00a0in African, American, Asian and European history. Among the department\u2019s thematic and methodological strengths are political, social, cultural, intellectual, environmental, transnational, and diplomatic history.<\/p>\n Boston and its environs offer an engaging and resource-rich setting for graduate work. There are numerous archives, libraries, and historical organizations in the area. On campus, the department has a special relationship with the\u00a0American and New England Studies Program<\/a>, which provides a range of supplementary courses, workshops, and other venues for scholarly exchange. For Africanists, the highly regarded\u00a0African Studies Center<\/a>\u00a0facilitates interdisciplinary approaches, encompassing anthropology, economics, political science, and sociology, as well as history. There are also the world renown Center for the Study of Europe<\/a> as well as the Center for the Study of Asia<\/a>, which each offer a rich catalogue of events and trainings and are staffed by faculty from a variety of disciplines who specialize in the region. \u00a0Ongoing lectures, conferences, and other events are also organized by the\u00a0American Political History Institute<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0International History Institute<\/a>, and they provide graduate students with further opportunities to engage with visiting scholars and learn about new work in the field.<\/p>\nMaking Connections<\/h3>\n
