Eppchez is a Quaker, Cuban, and Jewish theatre artist and musician working out of the West Philly artist collective Panorama. Ey received eir Bachelor’s in Theatre and Writing from Wesleyan University. In 2012 Eppchez started up Alma's Engine; a process focused production company/creative ministry for self-producing work in music and theater. Eppchez has worked as a playwright, choreographer, director, performer, puppeteer, songwriter, and vocalist. This bilingual work grapples with the past, bearing witness to gender-non-conforming historical figures, La Monja Alferéz and The Publik Universal Friend. Puppetry and poetics lift up the lives of these trans anscestors in an exhilarating conversation honoring their genders and refusing to look away from their transgressions.
