Prof Menegon Chaired a Session at the Renaissance Society of America

On March 31, 2022, Professor Eugenio Menegon (on leave at Villa I Tatti in Florence) chaired a session at the Renaissance Society of America Annual Meeting in Dublin (Ireland) on “The image of Confucius in the writings of Catholic missionaries between the 17th and 18th Centuries”.

Three junior Italian scholars (A. Tosco, R. De Gruttola, and A. Magnani) presented their recent research on biographies of Confucius written for the European public in the early modern period, and the political-religious agendas behind those representations. The panel was sponsored by the China Christianity Studies Group (CCSG), for which Prof. Menegon is representative at the RSA.
