BU Hillel’s Director’s Council<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BU Hillel Director\u2019s Council is a diverse\u00a0group of alumni, parents, and community members, who meet 3 times a year with Executive Director, Rabbi Jevin Eagle to stay informed on the most up-to-date happenings at Hillel and provide their insight, expertise, and advice on the most pressing issues facing BU\u2019s Jewish students today.\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0<\/span>council<\/span> is comprised of passionate people with a variety of professional backgrounds and has a target gift of $5,000 and a minimum gift of $1,000 to join. \"\"Pete Bernard<\/b> (ENG \u201988)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pete Bernard spent 14 in Silicon Valley and 18 years at Microsoft pushing the envelope of edge computing products, services, and communities. He holds seven patents in security, imaging, smart wearables, and music streaming. He has been deeply involved in non-profits in the Seattle area for over a decade as well as a long-time supporter of mentorship programs at Boston University. He has been leading the EDGE AI Foundation since April of 2024.<\/p>\n

\"\"Marcelo Blay<\/strong> is the founder and CEO of Minuto Seguros. He has worked in the insurance market for 30 years. He worked in the Automobile and Health sectors at Porto Seguro, was Vice President (COO) of Itau Seguros, and a member of the Tempo board. In 2010, Blay launched Minuto Seguros, a pioneer brokerage comp<\/span>any and leader in Brazil’s online insurance sales.\u00a0<\/span>Blay holds a degree in Engineering from Escola de Engenharia Maua with an MBA in Finance from FGV and specialization from Columbia University (NY). He was Vice President of the Insurance Companies’ Union, Vice President of the Fraud Prevention Commission of the Federation of Insurance Companies, and is currently the Coordinator of the Innovation Committee of the Insurance Brokers Union of S\u00e3o Paulo, along with being a member of the Insurance Regulator (SUSEP) Insurtech and Innovation Commission. Blay is a member of the Deliberative Council of the Hospital Israelita Brasileiro Albert Einstein and has been involved with several Jewish organizations for mo<\/span>re than 30 years.<\/p>\n

\"\"Jerry Davidson <\/b><\/strong>(CAS \u201976) is a former vice president at Fidelity Investments in Boston, where he worked in the Treasurer\u2019s Office for the Fidelity Funds.\u00a0 Jerry has over 30 years of experience in financial services, principally in the mutual fund industry, in areas involving internal controls and internal audit, compliance, systems development and consulting.\u00a0 He has served on leadership roles on several boards include Pierce School Extended Day Program in Brookline, MA, Temple Israel of Boston, and Brookline Community Foundation in Brookline, MA.\u00a0 After graduating from Boston University with a BA in Economics, Jerry obtained a Master\u2019s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Pittsburgh and also a Master\u2019s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.Most recently, he worked the past 7 years as a part-time Product Specialist at Apple in Chestnut Hill, MA, where enjoyed his semi-retirement developing customer and technology skills.<\/p>\n

Daniel Waldman <\/b>has been an entrepreneur since graduating from George Washington University in 1977.\u00a0 He went on to earn his MBA at the University of Pittsburgh.\u00a0 He is originally from Pittsburgh where he was involved in the retail furniture industry and nursing home industry. Since 1996, Dan has lived in the Boston area with his wife and two daughters.\u00a0 He operates his own commercial real estate brokerage firm, Waldman & Associates, and is active in many Jewish causes. Dan is a member of Temple Beth David synagogue in Westwood, MA.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

\"\"David C. Weinstein<\/strong> (CAS ’72) is CEO of Write the World, a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit
\norganization, founded at Harvard University. Through his leadership, Write the
\nWorld has grown into the preeminent global online community for teenage writing,
\nhelping teenagers develop the writing competence and confidence essential for
\nsuccess in school, career, and life.
\nDavid was Chief of Administration at Fidelity Investments, one of the world\u2019s
\nleading asset managers, overseeing the legal, human resources, real estate,
\ncompliance, security, audit, and accounting functions. With a passion for education, David has served as a trustee of Harvard Hillel, Temple Emanuel (Newton, MA), Boston College, Bryant University, Belmont Hill School, Fessenden School, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library Foundation, the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society, and other national and community-based
\nnonprofit boards. David is an elected Member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He is a
\ngraduate of Boston University (CAS\u201972) and Boston College Law School.<\/p>\n

Bruce <\/strong>Yudewitz (CAS \u2019<\/span>73)<\/strong> is the COO of the Jewish Federation of Broward County.\u00a0 Previously. he was the Director of\u00a0 Community Planning for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation . Throughout his more than 4 decades of work at Federations, addressing the needs of\u00a0 Jewish College students has been a significant part of his portfolio. He served 2 different periods on the Board of\u00a0 Directors of\u00a0 Boston University Hillel, in the late 1980’s and again in in the 2000’s. He and his wife Sharon met at BU Hillel. Their 4 children all work or volunteer in leadership roles in the Jewish community. They have 8 grandchildren.<\/div>\n
