Koller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Graduate Student Fellow, Archaeology, College of Arts &amp; Sciences<\/p>\n<p><b>Jared M. Koller<\/b><span>\u00a0was named a Hariri Graduate Fellow in May, 2016. He is\u00a0a PhD Candidate in the Department of Archaeology, who, for\u00a0the past three years, has worked with local communities in the Philippines to investigate social and religious change through archaeology.\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Koller\u2019s research takes an archaeological approach that explores the relationship between visual and acoustic information in and around Spanish missions and plaza complexes in the Philippines from the 14th \u2013 18th centuries CE.\u00a0 Archaeologists typically focus on material culture; less well understood is how sound influenced daily life in the past.\u00a0 By combining audio information with material remains, Koller\u2019s\u00a0research aims to provide a richer understanding of human motivation and behavior in the past. Prior to beginning his PhD program at Boston University, Mr. Koller served as a Researcher for the Asian Cultural History Program (ACHP), part of the Smithsonian Institution\u2019s Anthropology Department in Washington D.C.\u00a0 His work at the Smithsonian included archaeological and historical research, training international partners in collection management systems, and coordinating of cultural events for Azerbaijani, Georgian, Indonesian, Kazakhstani, Korean, and Turkmen, and Turkish communities.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6673,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/9427"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/6673"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/9427\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":15943,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/9427\/revisions\/15943"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=9427"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
