Klapperich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Catherine M. Klapperich is an American biomedical engineer noted for her research on diagnostics and precision medicine. She is professor of biomedical engineering (BME) at Boston University, with additional appointments in materials science &amp; engineering (MSE) and mechanical engineering (ME). Klapperich serves as the director of research for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.damplab.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DAMP Laboratory at BU<\/a>. Klapperich was previously the director of the NIH NIBIB Center for Future Technologies in Cancer Care as part of the Point-of Care-Research Technologies Network.<\/p>\n<p><span>Klapperich\u2019s research is focused on engineering medical devices for <\/span><span>trans women\u2019s and women\u2019s health,\u00a0<\/span><span>use in low resource settings, and at the point of care. Current projects\u00a0<\/span><span>include on-body physiological monitoring,<\/span><span>\u00a0disposable microfluidic diagnostics\u00a0 and\u00a0 minimally instrumented devices to enable molecular testing. Her work includes diagnostics for CT-NG, HPV and other sexually transmitted infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Before coming to Boston, Dr. Klapperich was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in the lab of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web.stanford.edu\/group\/bertozzilab\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi,<\/a><span>\u00a0and was a Senior Research Scientist at Aclara Biosciences in Mountain View, CA.
