Professor Christopher Laumann<\/a> came to study quantum many-body theory as a card-carrying physicist by way of an abiding interest in how both classical and quantum computers work, from the electrons to the algorithms. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard working on synthetic quantum platforms, he joined the physics faculty at the University of Washington in 2013 before moving to BU in 2016. He was a Sloan Fellow from 2016-2018 and received an NSF Career award in 2018.
