He cofounded the first media effects lab at <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/crc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston University, the Communication Research Center,<\/a> introducing biometric tools and virtual reality workstations and developing the College of Communication\u2019s research participant pool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Cummings has written extensively in high-impact field publications, including the <\/span><em>Journal of Communication<\/em><span>, the\u00a0<\/span><em>Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication<\/em><span>,\u00a0<\/span><em>Communication Research<\/em><span>, and\u00a0<\/span><em>New Media &amp; Society<\/em><span>, as well as the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy\u2019s Occasional Papers series. <\/span>He was formerly a research fellow within the Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science &amp; Engineering and the Institute for Health System Innovation &amp; Policy. He is also a Visiting Scholar within Stanford University\u2019s Human Screenome Project.
