She is a member of the Hariri Institute\u2019s Steering Committee and was a Junior Faculty Fellow (2018-2021).<\/p>\n<p>Balakrishnan is a computational number theorist researching algorithmic number theory and arithmetic geometry, and is recognized among the world\u2019s leading authorities on the quadratic Chabauty method and the application of p-adic techniques to Diophantine geometry. Her work is supported by numerous grants from the<span> <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hluce.org\/\">Luce Foundation<\/a>, the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/\">National Science Foundation<\/a>, the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.simonsfoundation.org\/\">Simons Foundation<\/a>, and the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sloan.org\/\">Sloan Foundation<\/a>. She is a recent recipient of the American Mathematical Society&#8217;s Joan and Joseph Birman Fellowship for Women Scholars and the <a href=\"https:\/\/awm-math.org\/awards\/awm-microsoft-research-prize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Association for Women in Mathematics&#8217; Microsoft Research Prize in Algebra and Number Theory<\/a>. She has published one book, one book chapter, and 17 articles in top-tier mathematics journals, including<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>La Matematica<\/em>.
