{"id":29364,"date":"2023-10-01T13:26:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-01T18:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/?p=29364"},"modified":"2026-02-05T13:18:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T18:18:27","slug":"hariri-institute-publishes-fy23-annual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/2023\/10\/01\/hariri-institute-publishes-fy23-annual-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Hariri Institute publishes FY23 Annual Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Hariri Institute Staff<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Hariri Institute is pleased to announce the release of our FY23 Annual Report!<\/p>\n<p>The report highlights the many significant and impactful accomplishments of our multidisciplinary community, consisting of 400 faculty affiliates and including thought leaders, problem solvers, scholars, and pioneers. They are leveraging the full power of computing, computational, and data-driven science and engineering to create new knowledge, solve hard problems, and create change on a national and international scale.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Center for Information and Systems Engineering (CISE)<\/a> joining the Hariri Institute\u2019s federation of centers and initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/centers-initiatives-labs\/red-hat-collaboratory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Red Hat Collaboratory<\/a> awarding 19 projects from BU faculty members and industry collaborators, totaling more than $2.1 million in funding. Additionally, four undergraduates received funding for open-source projects, totaling $31,000<br \/>\nthat aim to improve the security, efficiency, and intelligence of computing systems<\/p>\n<p>Our welcoming of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/hariri-institute-2023-fellowships\/\">six Junior Faculty Fellows and seven Graduate Student Fellows<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Institute funding of four new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/hariri-institute-2024-focused-research-programs\/\">2024 Focused Research Programs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/centers-initiatives-labs\/mocalliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Open Cloud Alliance<\/a> (MOC-A) holding the first in-person workshop since COVID-19, which brought together its unique community of researchers, users, and industry.<\/p>\n<p>These are just a few examples of work being done at the Hariri Institute.
