The FRP mission is to evolve and advance Boston University\u2019s research in computing, computational, and data-driven science and engineering around areas of strategic importance and emerging opportunity.<span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span>The Institute awarded<\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><strong><span>five<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span>2025 Focused Research Program awards that aim to solve complex problems in healthcare, natural disasters, high performance computing, and autonomous self-driving labs for<\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span>accelerating scientific discovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>2025 Focused Research Programs<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/programs\/focused-research-programs\/frp-program-pages\/ai-for-understanding-earthquakes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>AI for Understanding Earthquakes<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<\/b>Sponsor: Hariri Institute for Computing<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Goal<\/strong><span><strong>:<\/strong> This FRP aims to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to improve our understanding of earthquakes, including exploring optimal deep learning architectures for seismic data;
