The Hariri Institute Distinguished Seminar Series hosts renowned leaders from around the world who are conducting ground-breaking, interdisciplinary research in computing, and computational science and engineering. Invited speakers are eminent researchers and thought leaders from academia, industry, non-profit organizations, and government.<\/p>\n

The Hariri Institute Seminar Series explores diverse computational and data-driven science topics of current and emerging interest, providing an excellent opportunity to learn about exciting research in the field. Topics cover the range of research domains spanned by the Institute’s centers and initiatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Did You Know\u2026? Series<\/h4>
The \u201cDid you know\u2026?\u201d series provides a venue for people to learn new things that either enable or are enabled by computing and data science. Topics they might not even realize they wanted to know! And they can meet other similarly inquisitive people while adding more tools to their belt. The series is intended to be an informal, low-barrier mechanism for convergence, and welcomes a broad audience of students, faculty, and staff from across the landscape of disciplines at Boston University to participate. Offered in the spirit of a brown-bag lunch series (60 minutes in length, with a focused 20-minute lightning presentation, followed by Q&A and an opportunity for networking before and after the seminar).<\/p>\n

An informal lunch series that welcomes and gathers scholars from various disciplines across the university to discuss research at the intersection of AI and learning by sharing insights from published projects, seeking feedback on planned studies, and fostering a collaborative environment for advancing knowledge in AI and learning.<\/p>\n

Cyber Alliance Seminar Series<\/h4>
The alliance has established a seminar series to explore the interaction between cybersecurity technology, law, and policy. In addition, the alliance has invited field experts to give seminars at BU and supported congressional briefings to continue to grow the credentials of the University in this research area. Additionally, faculty are working to create innovative learning opportunities that bring computer science and law students together to tackle challenges of data ethics and cybersecurity law.<\/p>\n

RISCS Cyptography and Security Seminar<\/h4>
The BU Computing Security Group does research in cryptography and network security within the Department of Computer Science at Boston University. We are also affiliated with the BU Center for Reliable Information Systems & Cyber Security (RISCS), which takes a multidisciplinary approach to security by bringing together experts across the university.<\/p>\n

Red Hat Colloquium Series<\/h4>
A partnership between Red Hat and Boston University, the Red Hat Collaboratory connects BU faculty and students with industry practitioners working in open-source software communities. The Collaboratory aims to advance research focused on emerging technologies in a number of areas including operating systems, cloud computing services, machine learning and automation, and big data platforms.<\/p>\n

BU Computer Systems (BU\u267aS) Seminar<\/h4>
The BU Computer Systems Seminar, sponsored by the Red Hat Collaboratory, seeks to bring together systems researchers in academia and industry in a forum for discussing design, implementation, analysis and applications of computer systems at various scales. Researchers are invited to present their own work or other significant efforts at the state of the art in [operating|distributed|networked] systems and system architectures, of the type typically presented at conferences such as SOSP, OSDI, NDSS, USENIX Security, and NSDI.<\/p>\n
