BU’s ENERGIZE Program is recruiting its first cohort of graduate trainees!
BU PhD students interested in attacking climate change:
Apply to the ENERGIZE by 5PM February 21, 2025!
Submit applications through the NSF eTap Portal.
The ENERGIZE program is a new BU interdisciplinary graduate program aimed at developing the workforce the U.S. energy sector needs to solve complex sustainability challenges at the industrial level. The program offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research in photochemical and electrochemical conversion and storage, providing comprehensive training in physical and computational experimentation and data science.
The training program is open to all BU graduate students. Trainees will participate in collaborative research and community events including seminars, workshops and an annual symposium. Workshops include professional development skills, and computational, data science and experimental skills in materials science. Trainees are also able to apply for travel and research funds to support their studies.
Eligibility: Current BU graduate students (MS and PhD) in ENG, CAS, and CDS are welcome to apply. Both domestic and international students are eligible to be trainees. A subset of trainees will be invited to be NRT Fellows and receive 2 years of stipend support. These fellows must be U.S. citizens with at least 2 year remaining in their studies. PLEASE NOTE – All BU graduate students are eligible to apply to be a trainee, the 2 year requirement is to be considered for stipend support.
Application Requirements: Trainees should submit their resume, transcript, a personal statement, and letter of recommendation from your research advisor. The personal statement should address:
- 1. Discuss how your research integrates with the themes of the ENERGIZE NRT and how you will benefit from the NRT.
- 2. How does your work incorporate experimental, computational, and data science through your individual work or as part of a collaboration? What is your approach to collaboration?
More information on the ENERGIZE NRT can be found at the ENERGIZE website.
Timeline: Applications are due Feb. 21, 2025; decisions will be made by early March, and training begins Summer 2025.
