Edward Kapili

portraits_Page_08Mr. Edward Kapili currently manages the Back Office Banking team and serves on the regional office management team at the Bank of Zambia. His current responsibilities include overseeing Back Office Banking accountability with respect to check clearing, data processing, compliance, and the handling of statements & records. As the Bank’s Regional Office Principal Risk Liaison Officer, Mr. Kapili coordinates risk management functions and documents the proceedings of all Business Continuity Management (BCM) activities.

Mr. Kapili previously worked in tax administration at the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), where he supported the development and implementation of ZRA’s strategic objectives.

In 1999, Mr. Kapili earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Copperbelt University in Kitwe, Zambia. In 2009, he obtained an MBA in Finance, with honors, from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. Mr. Kapili has further completed a number of post-graduate professional certificate programs in banking and financial markets. Prior to his post-graduate studies, he participated in the British Council’s Inter-Action Leadership Programme.

During his Fellowship year, Mr. Kapili plans to acquire advanced knowledge of various roles and potential tools within the policy making arena of the banking and financial sector. Upon his return to Zambia, he intends to tackle issues related to income inequality and financial exclusion based on age and gender. In these ways, and through training and mentoring others, he hopes to help reduce poverty across the country.
