Mr. Mohamed Amine Zakaria is a senior executive of the procurement department at RAMSA, a company that supplies fresh water and manages the sewage system in the region of Agadir (South of Morocco). He is responsible for estimating the value of the prospective procurement and assessing the public contracts the company engages with its main suppliers, and he is responsible for monitoring the gas consumption and maintenance of the company fleet and plants.

During his fellowship year, Amine aims to be more knowledgeable about using statistical models and machine learning algorithms in order to optimize the decision making within the procurement department, in particular to reduce the gas consumption of the company fleet and plants. Upon his return to his country where data science is considered as nascent, he plans to organize workshops in order to promote the wide variety of opportunities this field could provide in different domains.

Mr. Amine earned his master’s degree in accounting and financial management at the national school of management and commerce in Agadir, Morocco. He has systematically been pursuing courses on data science and machine learning on the online learning platforms in the recent years.
