Ms. María del Carmen Pantoja work as a Business Management Control Coordinator for the Ecuadorian National Oil Company – Petroamazonas EP. She is responsible for monitoring and controlling the Balance Scorecard, elaborating business plans and providing financial assessment and economic evaluations of future returns in order to execute the Company´s mission, vision and strategy. Additionally, she has promoted the enforcement of the Transparency Law in Petroamazonas EP and is its representative in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). María del Carmen has more than ten years of experience in civil society and public organizations working in the oil and gas industry. She has also performed as an economic researcher and public policy analyst.

During her Fellowship year, she plans to widen her knowledge in capital markets and enhance her leadership skills. Her goal is to reinforce her role as a change-maker woman in the extractive industries and guide the National Oil Company to take advantage of the capital-raising benefits of markets. She is interested in networking with experts in legal and financial institutions with expertise in the extractive sector.

Ms. Pantoja is an Economist and holds a MBA degree focused in International Business from the Universidad de las Americas of Ecuador and a specialization in Extractive Industries, Surveillance and Sustainable Development of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She also attended to the Leadership and Management in Global Economy Program at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
