Aitolkyn Kourmanova

HUMPHREYHSMs. Aitolkyn Kourmanova is the head of a private economic research and publishing center in Kazakhstan. In addition to working in the private banking sector, she has worked with international organizations such as the World Bank and the European Commission Delegation in Kazakhstan.  Her expertise in economic and regional issues has led to numerous publications, including the launch and editorship of a popular economic magazine, Vox Populi, and the editorship of a quarterly academic business magazine, Economic Strategies – Central Asia.  Ms. Kourmanova is also a consultant on political and economic risks to various international clients.

Ms. Kourmanova holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and earned her Executive Master of Business Administration degree from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris (HEC Paris).

During her Humphrey year, Aitolkyn plans to deepen her knowledge in economics and international trade.  She plans to start her own research project on political and economic re-integration processes in the former Soviet Union.
