Emma Lazerson is a first-year PhD student, studying the art of the Italian Renaissance with Dr. Jodi Cranston. She specializes in women artists of the Cinque- and Seicento, analyzing how post-colonial and global theories, social histories, and Marxist philosophies may be brought to bear on the artistic practices of these women.<\/p>\n
Her article, \u201cPerformance and Imitation: Sofonisba Anguissola\u2019s Self-Portrait with Madonna and Child,\u201d was published in the Spring 2023 issue of Sequitur, Boston University\u2019s Graduate Art History Journal. She also recently presented her paper \u201cLavinia Fontana\u2019s Portrait of Antoinetta Gonzales in Global Context\u201d at University of Alabama\u2019s Challenging Empire: Women, Art, and the Global Early Modern World symposium in March 2024. She holds a BA with high honors from Emory University and an MA from Case Western Reserve University.<\/p>\n
