Francesca Soriano is a PhD candidate in History of Art and Architecture at Boston University. Her research is focused on U.S. art as an agent of imperialism and the commodification of animals and natural resources. She is interested in the ways in which art and visual culture, natural history, and commerce overlap in the nineteenth century. Francesca holds a BA in Art History from Colby College and a MA in History of Art and Architecture from Boston University. Her masters scholarly paper explored the early twentieth century photography of Anne Brigman and period environmental sensibilities. She has held curatorial internships at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Peabody Essex Museum.
