Alumnni Spotlight: Sarah Hagglund – MA 2023

What have you been doing since you graduated from BU?
After graduation I continued my work at the Gibson House Museum in Boston which included curation, collections care, archival research, building maintenance, and donor cultivation. In 2024, I left my role at the GMH and began working as the Staff Assistant in the Division of European and American Art at the Harvard Art Museums. This role has offered many opportunities to participate in the everyday tasks that make up curatorial work and learn from amazing art historians I now call my colleagues.
How was your time in the department shaped your professional and personal lives?
BU was instrumental to both my professional and personal life. Boston is the first city I ever lived in and having such a tight-knit cohort allowed me to not only settle into my studies, but also explore a new place with bright people who shared my love for art. The connections I made at BU through my professors were also essential to me getting the role I have now at Harvard (shout out Dr. Zell)!
Any advice that you would’ve given to your younger self?
Be open to all the opportunities that come your way because you never know where it may lead!
