<\/i><\/span><\/span>Andreina Parisi-Amon has over 15 years of experience in academia and industry, focusing on driving innovation in education through research, curriculum development, and building partnerships. She currently serves as Vice President of Learning & Teaching at Engageli, where she leads a team of experts to develop a collaborative learning platform. Her prior roles include Director of Partnerships for Mass STEM Hub and leading the inaugural Teaching & Learning team at Coursera, where she advanced online education through best practices in course design and platform creation. With a background in biomedical engineering, Andreina is passionate about creating environments where people and ideas thrive. She holds a PhD from Stanford University and a BSc from Duke University, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. Outside of her professional pursuits, she draws energy from completing tria<\/span>thlons, finding fulfillment in the dedication, camaraderie, and success that comes with the sport.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\nDr. Tamarra James-Todd is the Mark and Catherine Winkler Associate Professor of Environmental Reproductive Epidemiology. She directs the Environmental Reproductive Justice (ERJ) Lab, which seeks to investigate the role of consumer product chemical exposure on reproductive and cardiometabolic health and health disparities. She takes a solution-oriented approach that includes running several randomized controlled t<\/span>ria<\/span>ls to improve environmental health literacy of consumer product chemicals as a strategy to reduce risk of adverse health outcomes and health disparities. She is the Principal Investigator of several R01s, including the ERGO Study, she is the Principal Investigator for the Community Engagement Core of the MEMCARE P42 Superfund Research Center, and she is the Deputy Director of the Harvard Chan NIEHS P30 Center.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

<\/span><\/h2>\nDr. Deborah Burstein is an\u00a0Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel, and the Co-Director of the MIT IMPACT Program. She has been at the forefront of developments for new methodologies in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), including the pioneering research on the utilization of sodium MRI for evaluation of electrophysiologic conditions, innovative methods for imaging of the coronary arteries and perfusion imaging of the myocardium, and molecular imaging of cartilage. Dr. Burstein and collaborators were awarded the Elizabeth Winston Lanier Award for development of this field of study. Most recently, Dr. Burstein has been developing methodologies for research training as co-Director of the MIT IMPACT program; an integrated mentoring program to optimize research impact and research career trajectories.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n\nDr. Bell is a Professor of Environmental Health at the Yale University School of the Environment, with secondary appointments at the Yale School of Public Health, Environmental Health Sciences Division and the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science, Environmental Engineering Program.\u00a0
Her research investigates how human health is affected by atmospheric systems, including air pollution and weather.\u00a0 Much of this work is based in epidemiology, biostatistics, and environmental engineering. The research is designed to be policy-relevant and contribute to well-informed decision-making to better protect human health. We really enjoyed hearing about Dr. Bell’s important work on environmental justice and her advice for women and researchers in STEM! We were so happy to be able to host her in-person this year. For GWISE’s first virtual Fall Keynote we were delighted to have Dr. Meredith Fisher, an accomplished business leader and scientist speak to us and answer questions from faculty and students. Dr. Meredith Fisher received her MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and her PhD in molecular microbiology from Harvard University where she co-founded Harvard Graduate Women in Science and Engineering. Currently, she is a Partner at the Partners Innovation Fund – the venture arm of Partners Healthcare System and Co-President of WEST – Women in the Enterprise of Science and Technology. Meredith represents the fund on the boards of Nocion, ZielBio, Claris Bio, Alize Pharma and Mediar Therapeutics.\u00a0 She is also a member of the Board of Directors at Metera and serves as an advisor to Takeda HATCH. She is a two-time recipient of the Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star Award. Prior to these roles, she spent several years working as a scientist and business leader at biotech companies such as Gingko Bioworks and Enlight Biosciences.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nMeredith shared her experience as a Partner in a Venture Fund and what it takes to invest and build companies in biotech – it was great to hear about a career path that isn’t often advertised to graduate students and see how Meredith works with other partners, researchers, and investors in order to make a project successful! She also shared about her experience with Women in the Enterprise of Science and Technology and other activities she does within the community to support women in STEM. Dr. Litwhiler is the Program Manager of Strategic Projects at the Museum of Science. She received her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Behavior from the Federated Department of Biological Sciences of Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is a dedicated scientist, educator, and science communicator, with over ten years of combined experience working and teaching in higher education. At the Museum of Science, Dr. Litwhiler has continued to hone her skills as professional science communicator and informal science educator. Now, as Program Manager at the Museum of Science, Dr. Litwhiler partners directly with scientists to conceptualize, develop, and deliver engaging museum content based on current science and technology research in the form of live lecture presentations, hands-on experiences, special events, podcasts, blog posts, and educator resources. She also supports her fellow scientists by developing and delivering academic science communication training programs for undergraduate REU students, graduate students, and post-doctoral, and faculty-level researchers. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nOn October 24th, she delighted us with her life experiences starting with her graduate studies in the hazardous wastelands of New Jersey to her transition into the world of scientific communication and Informal Scientific Education (ISE) and finally to her current role as Program Manager at the Museum of Science. \u00a0We learned about great communications resources such as Portal to the Public and ComSciCon as well as some of the mind-blowing exhibits and initiatives at the Museum, including a new exhibit on Fish Physics and a competition on Quantum Computing!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Miss Chojkier is a senior communications executive with nearly 20 years of private, public, and non-profit sector experience. She currently leads global teams across diverse industries in public affairs, external relations, social impact, public policy, stakeholder engagement, and government affairs. Miss Chojkier served as a White House senior media director and spokesperson under President Obama. In this role, she led all communications with Hispanic audiences in the United States and Latin America.
