Graduate and Postdoctoral Success – GPS for short – is one of three units reporting to the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs. Our team inherits the legacy and work done by Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs previously while working on a broader mission to develop and assist all masters, professional, and PhD students at Boston University – regardless of BU campus. Additionally, our team includes postdoctoral affairs and service to BU postdocs alongside our work with all BU graduate and professional students.
We support masters and professional students through our work with faculty, staff, and programs in each college and school at BU to ensure the academic, co-curricular, and career success of our students. Also, we continue the work PDPA has done in the past to work directly with PhD students and other terminal degree students as they develop skills that will benefit students while at BU and beyond. Additionally, we work with postdoctoral scholars to foster a supportive, developing environment as these scholars work and gain experiences to aid them in their next steps beyond BU.
As part of our work to support our students and postdocs, we offer an expansive professional development curriculum for PhDs, postdocs, and faculty members at BU, providing free workshops, panels, and training events throughout the academic year to guide students in their career development. These events are specifically designed to facilitate networking opportunities for students and postdocs while fostering personal and professional growth.
