During his 30 years as a professor with Boston University and two decades as the Chairman of the Administrative Sciences Department, Dr. Kip Becker was responsible for the design and implementation of numerous innovative graduate degree programs. These included the first U.S. Ecommerce masters as well as graduate degrees in Innovation and Technology, International Business, Financial Economics, Organizational Policy, Business Enterprise Continuity and Project Management. Under his guidance the department grew from no graduate enrollments to become one of the largest management departments in the Boston area with over 700 students. He was responsible for the development of the first online programs offered by a top research institution promoting innovative approaches to education receiving awards for design and quality. Under his guidance both campus degrees and online degrees received AACSB and EFMD (European Business School Accreditation) accreditation, recognized as the most prestigious for management schools. Recognizing the importance of globalization, he was responsible for developing strong international academic initiatives including worldwide partnerships, dual degrees and exciting innovative uses of online for internationalization of the curriculum.
Dr Becker was named Associate Professor Emeritus by Boston University and is active in educational activities as the president of the International Management Development Association, Editor of the Journal of Transnational Management and Technology Editor of the Journal of Euromarketing as well as serving on several review boards. Dr Becker has published over 60 articles and books nationally and internationally in the areas of international management, Electronic Commerce, strategy, marketing and global service sector issues. He has owned a waterfront restaurant and is president of Northwind Management International conducting education and management training/consulting with companies, governments and associations worldwide.
Prior to entering academe' Dr. Becker's experience included positions with: TDX systems of Cable and Wireless Ltd. in marketing, the U.S. Department of Justice, a special task force in the Reagan administration and serving as a U.S. army helicopter pilot during Viet Nam and Desert Storm. He holds a second degree black belt in Taekwondo.
