Photo Contest — 2015
2015 has proven another record-breaking year: More than 800 photos were submitted by 311 students, faculty, staff, and alumni from over 20 schools/colleges and offices, shot in 72 different countries. From places you would expect like China, London, Geneva, and New Zealand, where we have Study Abroad sites, to more exotic locations like Myanmar, Bhutan, and Uganda. The school with the most photos submitted was CAS with 251, followed by Questrom with 104, and COM with 97 photos entered.
Judging was definitely not easy. But it sure was inspiring to see all of the amazing places and experiences your affiliation with BU has led you to and the diversity of teaching, research, and service activities BU undertakes worldwide.
In the end, we chose the 15 finalists you see here. First, second, and third place and 12 runners up.
Enjoy! And a tremendous thanks to everyone who took part.
First Place: Guilin Twilight – Menas Yang, CAS
I took this photo during my travel to Guilin, China. During my time there, I really enjoyed seeing many of the old fishermen along the Lijiang River.
Second Place: Untitled – Alexander Driessen, CAS
This photo was shot in the famous floating gardens of Inle Lake. Known for its distinctive population of Burmese fishermen, Inle Lake takes you back in time as you explore traditional Myanmar culture surrounded by stunning countryside.
Third Place: Untitled – Jared Woollacott, CAS
With the support of the Graduate Student Organization, I traveled to an international conference in Turkey and visited the central Cappadocia region of the country where I took a hot air balloon ride. As you can see from the number of balloons, it’s a very popular thing to do. It was an incredible experience, thank you GSO!
