Lesson Plans

Here are a few of my lesson plans, feel free to implement!

-         The Evolution of Shribbles: a hands on activity in which students hunt for Shribbles (beads) of different colors to demonstrate the mechanism of natural selection

-         Designing Adaptations: Students use information about an existing ecosystem to design new adaptations for a particular organism in that ecosystem

-         Cucumber Osmosis:  Students design an experiment to test the concentration of different NaCl solutions by observing osmosis in cucumber slices.

-         Genetics of Blood Types:  Students learn about the biology of different blood types, transfusion compatibility, and how parental blood type genotype produces offspring with specific blood types.

-         Whodunit??  Blood Typing:  Using the Wards Whodunit blood typing kit, students will use the information they learned in the previous blood typing lesson to solve a crime by analyzing suspect blood types and comparing them to the blood at the scene of the crime.

-         Modeling the Lung:  A hands on activity where students create a model of the lungs, ribcage, and diaphragm using balloons, straws, and a 2 liter soda bottle.
